Cry Before Dawn Formed in 1982, became one of Ireland best loved bands, winning the prestigious IRMA award for “Best Newcomer” 1987, and “Best Irish Group”, in 1989. Their two albums “Crimes Of Conscience” and Witness For The World” went double platinum and they developed a reputation for being one of Irelands most passionate live bands. Their music is enhanced with Uilleann Pipes, Irish flute and whistles, a sound that sets them apart from their contemporaries.

Having recently completed a hugely successful and critically acclaimed reunion tour of Ireland and UK, Cry Before Dawn are committed to continue the comeback, with plans afoot for new releases in 2013. The reunion tour saw emotional, and rousing performances, in sold out venues throughout Ireland, including triumphant shows in Dublin’s Vicar Street, and two nights at Wexfords Opera House. Appearances on the main stage at the London Feis, and a memorable show on the Crawdaddy stage at the Electric Picnic, left the band and the fans wanting more. With new material and plans to record with a top producer, CBD are back and rearing to go again. The “Best of Cry Before Dawn” CD released to coincide with the tour reached no. 12 in the Irish album charts.
On the heels of the reunion shows the band released the critically received live album ““Live At The Opera House” which was recorded over the two Wexford Opera House shows in May of that year. “Live At The Opera House” was released independently released by the band and was produced and mixed by guitarist Steve Belton, who will again join Brendan Wade, Pat Hayes and Vinny Doyle on stage for a series of shows throughout 2013. The multi-talented Dara Munnis completes the line-up on keyboards.
“Is This What You Waited For?” is Cry Before Dawn’s first single in 23 years released in Ireland on April 12th on the legendary Independent Irish label Reekus Records, with whom they’ve had a long relationship dating back to our pre-CBS/EPIC years in 1986.
We are really proud of the result. It has taken a huge effort but we think it’s been worth it. We’re excited and very proud that against the odds and after all these years, we once again have the opportunity to play our music with renewed vigour and passion. We’re very happy to be working with independent label Reekus on this release. With echoes of the bands beginnings, it feels right for this re-birth of Cry Before Dawn begin with the release of “Is this What You Waited For” and for what the single represents.” ~ Brendan Wade (Cry Before Dawn).

PAT BYRNE

An Irish singer-songwriter, Pat Byrne has come a long way since his first deal with Universal. In late 2017, Byrne began his migration to Austin, Texas. In 2019, Pat took the US by storm, with breakout performances at the 30A Festival, SXSW, Kerrville Folk Festival and the Americana Festival. Being immersed in the Texas music scene, Pat’s sophomore US release, Into the Light, has an edgier feel underscoring both emotional depth and greater confidence, while blending new influences with his rich Irish heritage.

“Pat’s voice strikes an emotional chord with his audience; ranging from seductive whisper one moment, to full-bodied rock ‘n’ roll growl the next. ” – Stuart Gray

— Hot Press Magazine

“The raspy melodic soul of Byrne’s voice recalls the emotional spells the late Austin troubadour Jimmy LaFave used to cast, though Byrne’s songwriting bears a distinctive Irish stamp. He’s more contemporary than strict traditionalists, putting him more in the league of Glen Hansard or Luka Bloom.”

Peter Blackstock, The Austin American Statesman

“Pat Byrne lives in Austin and traffics in the kind of earnest roots rock championed by artists like Shakey Graves. His voice and songwriting chops show the reason he’s attracted a lot of attention. Look for a big second act from this artist.”

Tom Thornton, Riff Magazine

“The overall sound draws easy comparisons to modern gritty Americana artists like David Ramirez, Ryan Adams, and Jason Isbell. Byrne deserves to be in that company with his gritty vocal and poignant lyrical style.”

“The results — Irish Americana, by turns rollicking and resonating, that’s driven by his gruff growl of a voice — suggest that he’s one to keep an eye on. –”

— Stuart Munro, The Boston Globe

“ Pat Byrne at Saxon Pub. An Irishman who’s at least temporarily relocated to Austin this year, Byrne has quickly become an artist that everyone who goes out to hear music regularly in Austin needs to catch. The guess here is that he’ll be playing far larger rooms before long; he’s too good of a songwriter, and singer, to not reach his level. He also has a great band, with fellow countryman Stephen Carolan on guitar plus a solid local cast of keyboardist Micah Motenko, bassist Chris Wade and drummer Jeff Sanders.”
